Holy Symbol of Ravenkind
lostHoly Symbol of Ravenkind
Status: Lost — sought artifact; location unconfirmed
Known Information
An artifact the Keepers of the Feather have been searching for since their founding. They believe it will be a significant aid in ending Strahd's rule over Barovia.
The Madam Eva's Taroka reading (Session 5) pointed to it: the holy symbol buried at a crossroads of life and death among the very dead.
In Session 9, Brother Moro shared the Taroka clue with Danica. She confirmed the Keepers' awareness of the symbol and called it a graveyard at a crossroads — which the party recognized as the Ivlis Crossroads, where they passed through in Session 5. That location had gallows, graves, and undead. The party did not search the graves at the time, as the reading had not yet happened.
Van Richten's Account (Session 19)
Van Richten confirmed and expanded the known lore: the Holy Symbol of Ravenkind was delivered to a paladin named Lugdana by a giant raven — or possibly an angel in the form of a giant raven. Lugdana used it to root out and destroy nests of vampires until her death. After her death, the high priests of Ravenkind kept and wore the Holy Symbol. It was eventually lost to the people of Ravenkind and has not been seen for some time. Van Richten described its power as capable of leaving a vampire completely harmless for an extended period — possibly permanently disintegrating it.
He expressed serious interest when the party mentioned knowing its potential location.
