Status: Alive — retreated into the Barovian woods after Session 8

Known Information

An impossibly large dire wolf with black fur, glowing red eyes, and a glowing red sigil at its throat where neck meets chest. Its vocal cords were not made for speech. Something is making it speak anyway.

It spoke to Sable Burrowbane specifically — not to the party, to Sable — and delivered a message: The master watches. He wants to know your worth. And so you shall be weighed. It then commanded a pack of six wolves and three dire wolves to attack the party.

During combat it used a soul-rattling howl (DC14 Wisdom save; multiple party members failed), teleportation, and burrowing. It had a sticky black substance on its fur — not claw marks — noticed by Brother Moro on Perception 18. When Brother Moro connected with a Stunning Strike (dirty 20, Con save passed) and used Tavern Brawler to push it into a dead wolf, it teleported to the tree line and said, quietly, interesting. Then it left.

It was sent as a test. The party passed. The Alpha reported back.
