Full Names: Rosavalda Durst (Rose) and Thornbolt Durst (Thorn) Status: Dead — ghosts haunting the attic of Death House; skeletons remain on the children's beds

Known Information

Two children found standing outside their family townhouse in Barovia village. Rose is approximately ten years old, wearing a tattered red cloak. Thorn is approximately six, holding her sleeve and clutching a stuffed rabbit with very long ears. Both looked "washed out." They were not alive in Session 1. They were not aware they were dead.

Their nanny locked them in the attic to protect them from the monster in the basement. The nanny never returned — she was murdered on the same floor before she could come back. Rose and Thorn waited. They starved to death. The house kept resetting the lock on the attic door, so no subsequent visitors to Death House could find them.

The dollhouse in their room is an exact replica of Death House, accurate to every floor and room. Rose used it to show Sable the location of a secret door in the attic, which led down 50 feet to the dungeon level.

In Session 2, they negotiated a sleepover before allowing the party to continue downward. Thorn attempted to possess Sable when the party tried to leave but was ejected by Merich's intimidation. The children relented and disappeared back into the positions of their skeletons.

There are stone crypts bearing their names in the dungeon level of the house.

Their third sibling, Walter, is referenced only as someone their mother "did not like." He is believed to be the monster in the basement.

Per the will found in the hidden study, they are the legal heirs to the family house and a windmill east of Vallaki.
