A shambling mound — a creature composed of animate plant matter, refuse, and bad intentions — that had been lying dormant in the refuse heap of Death House's ritual chamber for an indeterminate amount of time. It required a chanted ritual invocation to awaken. The Durst cult's spectral apparitions provided this service the moment Merich stepped off the altar dais without completing a sacrifice.
Known Information
Full name: Lorgoth the Decayer. It was enormous. It had blindsight to 60 feet, meaning darkness was not a useful strategy. It had 20 feet of movement, which was reduced to 10 after Sable's longbow mastery effect landed. It was resistant to several damage types but not to force, radiant, or necrotic — the last of which was notable because shambling mounds are plants rather than undead.
It attempted to engulf Celeste; she made the constitution save. It was flanked by essentially the entire party for most of the fight. Brother Moro's critical hit with Addle stripped its reactions. The alchemist's fire missed the creature itself but set part of the chamber floor on fire.
Sable's Zephyr Strike ended it.
